A Home Away From Home in Rhos-on-Sea

At The Northwood, we believe that a truly memorable stay begins with the warmth of a family welcome. As an adults-only and pet-friendly retreat, we have created a sanctuary where you can step away from the bustle of everyday life and settle into the gentle pace of coastal Wales. Whether you are arriving with a furry companion or simply seeking a quiet corner to call your own, our doors are open to provide a genuine, traditional guesthouse experience.

We’ve taken care to ensure that your stay is defined by tranquility. Because we are tucked away from the main A55 expressway and the railway line, the only soundtrack to your visit will be the distant call of gulls and the rustle of the garden. Here, you are free to relax completely, knowing that every detail—from the accessibility of our ground-floor rooms to the fresh local breeze from the Promenade—has been considered with your comfort in mind.

Idea base for adventures

The Northwood serves as the perfect gateway to explore the breathtaking beauty of Wales, both right here in our local neighbourhood and further into the heart of the country. A short journey can take you from the charming, nostalgic streets of Rhos-on-Sea to the dramatic heights of Snowdonia National Park, or the medieval majesty of Conwy Castle. Whether you wish to wander through the world-famous Bodnant Garden, take the tram up the Great Orme in Llandudno, or discover the hidden waterfalls of the Conwy Valley, there is an endless landscape of history and nature waiting to be uncovered.

A Taste of the Local Landscape

Our bright breakfast room overlooks a south-facing patio garden, where you can watch the morning sun hit the flowers while you dine. We are deeply proud of our Welsh heritage, which is why we source our produce from award-winning local masters. Our meats come daily from the Rhos-on-Sea master butcher, and our fish is supplied by Llandudno fishmongers—you can often see the very trawler that caught your breakfast working the waters just off the coast.

Chef David takes great pleasure in catering to everyone. Whether you have specific dietary needs like gluten-free, sugar-aware, or vegetarian requirements, he is always happy to tailor a menu specifically for you.

Relaxing in our Lounge

After a day spent exploring the Llandudno cliffs or strolling through Rhos-on-Sea, our lounge provides a warm and friendly atmosphere to unwind. It is a place where you can relax in front of the television or enjoy a quiet conversation. We like to say that in our lounge, guests become no longer strangers, but friends you simply hadn’t met before.

David’s Workshop & The Sun-Drenched Patio

The Northwood is a place of personality. You’ll often find David in his workshop, where he pursues his hobby of crafting traditional wooden toys; he is always delighted to show guests how they are made.

If you prefer the outdoors, our enclosed patio is a hidden gem. You can enjoy a game of chess or checkers among the scented flowers, specifically chosen to attract bees and ladybirds. It’s a peaceful spot for gardeners and nature lovers alike to sit back and enjoy the bird song in the afternoon sun.
