Our Facilities

At The Northwood, our goal is simple: we want your stay to be as easy, relaxing, and pleasurable as a visit to an old friend’s home. Whether you are joining us for business or a well-deserved coastal escape, we believe every moment of your stay should be nothing short of amazing. With this in mind, we offer a range of thoughtful facilities designed to take the stress out of travel—from our private off-road parking to our tranquil guest lounge and sun-drenched patio. We are proud to welcome back so many guests who return to us year after year; it’s a wonderful reminder that when you focus on genuine hospitality and comfort, people truly feel at home. Whatever brings you to Rhos-on-Sea, we are here to ensure your time with us is perfectly tailored to your needs.

Disabled Access and Room

While Room 1 and our public areas offer a seamless, step-free experience, please note that our dedicated accessibility features are exclusive to the ground floor. We have focused our efforts on ensuring this level is fully optimized for ease of movement, providing level-entry access from the street directly into your room, the living areas, and the dining room.

This layout allows guests with mobility requirements to enjoy a completely self-contained and comfortable stay without the need to navigate stairs. By keeping our accessible sanctuary and essential services on a single, unified level, we ensure that your time with us remains effortless, safe, and focused on relaxation.

Private Parking

One of the standout features of the Northwood is our on-site private parking, making us one of the few hotels in the immediate area to offer this convenience to our guests.

We understand the peace of mind that comes with knowing your vehicle is secure; however, please be aware that spaces are limited. We kindly ask that you let us know in advance if you require a spot on-site, particularly for guests with specific accessibility needs or blue badges. Should our private lot be full, there is always plenty of on-street parking available right outside or very close to the hotel, ensuring you never have far to go.

Dog Friendly

At the Northwood, we believe a holiday isn’t truly a family holiday if a certain four-legged member is left behind. We are proudly dog-friendly and love welcoming your furry companions to join in on your coastal adventures. Traveling with your pampered pooch not only saves you the worry of “kennel guilt,” but it also means you have the perfect partner for those long, refreshing walks along the Rhos-on-Sea promenade.

While we do ask that guests keep their dogs under control to ensure a peaceful stay for everyone, we certainly don’t hold back on the hospitality. In fact, if your pup turns on the charm and minds their manners, they might just find themselves “accidentally” being served a sausage for breakfast! After all, they’re on vacation too, and a little morning treat is the least a VIP (Very Important Pup) deserves..

Sunny Patio

Beyond the comfort of your room, we invite you to step out onto our sunny, enclosed patio, a tranquil oasis designed for the enjoyment of all our guests—including Fido! It is the perfect spot to soak up the afternoon sun, lose yourself in a book, or engage in a friendly game of chess or checkers. Surrounded by the gentle harmony of birdsong and the vibrant colors of our garden, it offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle.

Garden enthusiasts will particularly appreciate our raised flower beds, which are thoughtfully curated to showcase a stunning variety of summer blooms. These flowers aren’t just a treat for the eyes; many have been specifically selected for their sweet scents to attract friendly ladybirds and bees, creating a thriving, natural sanctuary. Whether you’re enjoying a morning coffee or a quiet evening stroll with your dog, the patio provides a sensory delight that truly captures the spirit of a relaxing retreat.

Comfortable Lounge

Our communal lounge is the heart of the hotel, offering a warm and inviting space to unwind at your own pace. Whether you’re looking to sink into a sofa to watch a bit of TV, find a quiet corner to get lost in a good book, or simply enjoy a moment of peace, it’s a sanctuary designed for pure relaxation.

It is also a wonderful place to socialise and meet fellow travelers, providing a friendly atmosphere where guests can share stories of their coastal adventures or plan their next day’s itinerary. With its comfortable seating and peaceful ambiance, the lounge ensures you feel right at home from the moment you step inside.

Multi function television in every room

Each of our rooms is equipped with a television, with several also featuring DVD players for those who enjoy bringing along their favorite films.

These sets are more than just a screen; they are designed to be your bedside companion, acting as both a radio and an alarm clock.

You can choose to wake up to the morning news or perhaps let the radio provide a gentle, melodic backdrop to your morning as a pleasant alternative to the screen. Of course, you can always just settle into bed and lose yourself in your favorite TV channel for a quiet night in.

Tasty Breakfast

Start your day with a freshly cooked, traditional Welsh breakfast, prepared specifically for you and exactly how you like it. We take pride in serving a hearty morning meal that fuels your adventures, but the choice is entirely yours; you can also enjoy our wide selection of cereals or light and fluffy scrambled eggs. For a true taste of the coast, we also offer local (Manx) kippers, a flavorful favorite for many of our returning guests.

We are committed to ensuring every guest is well-fed and happy, which is why we gladly cater to special dietary requirements. Whether you have specific allergies or lifestyle preferences, simply let us know in advance of your stay, and we will ensure your breakfast is both delicious and perfectly suited to your needs.

Comfortable Dinning Room

Our breakfast is served in our bright and comfortable dining room, where you can enjoy your choice of freshly brewed coffee, tea, or a variety of chilled fruit juices.

The room offers a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere, featuring large windows that look out onto our scenic patio and garden. It’s a peaceful setting to start your day, allowing you to watch the local birds or simply enjoy the morning light as it spills across the greenery while you savor your breakfast.

Free wifi

We understand that in this day and age, staying connected is a necessity rather than a luxury, whether you are visiting us for a relaxing holiday or traveling for work.

To ensure you never miss a beat, we offer free high-speed Wi-Fi for all our guests. We have invested in a robust network to provide strong signal strength throughout the hotel, allowing you to browse, stream, or catch up on emails from the comfort of your room or while relaxing in our communal areas. Whatever your digital needs, you can enjoy a seamless and reliable connection during your entire stay.

Adults Only

As we are an adults-only hotel, we find that many of our guests choose to visit us by car. If you are driving during your stay, please keep in mind that across Wales, the default speed limit in built-up areas (streets that were previously 30mph) is now 20mph.

We want your stay in Rhos-on-Sea to be purely about relaxation, so please take extra care with your speed—we would much rather you spend your holiday fund on a nice dinner than on an unexpected £100 speeding fine!

No Smoking

To ensure a fresh and comfortable environment for everyone, we are a 100% non-smoking hotel.

We kindly ask that you do not smoke or vape anywhere inside the building, including the bedrooms; our highly sensitive smoke detectors are designed for your safety and will certainly catch any local “indoor clouds!”

If you do wish to smoke, we simply ask that you step outdoors to do so, where you can enjoy the fresh coastal air instead.

Glorious Seaside Location

The Northwood is perfectly situated in a glorious seaside location, serving as an ideal gateway to the timeless charm of Rhos-on-Sea and the vibrant Victorian elegance of Llandudno. You are just moments away from the sweeping promenade and heritage gems like St. Trillo’s Chapel, while a short drive brings you to the spectacular Great Orme, the historic Llandudno Pier, and the medieval majesty of Conwy Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Whether you are tracing ancient history or soaking in dramatic coastal views, our central location makes it easy to experience all the spectacular attractions and rich heritage that this stunning region has to offer.

Friendly hosts

Your stay at the Northwood is overseen by your friendly hosts, David and Sandy, who bring years of experience and a genuine passion for hospitality to everything they do. They truly go out of their way to ensure every guest feels at home and act as a fantastic “mine of information” for local hidden gems, from the best coastal walking paths to the top-rated restaurants in the area.

A word of friendly warning, however: while David is always happy to help with your itinerary, if you happen to get him talking about amateur radio, you might find yourself engrossed in a conversation so long you’ll end up staying a few extra days just to hear the end of it! Between Sandy’s warm welcome and David’s expert local advice (and radio stories), you are in very capable hands.
